The Nacilbupera Guzzle

Whoever examines with attention the history of the dearths and famines … will find, I believe, that a dearth never has arisen from any combination among the inland dealers in corn, nor from any other cause but a real scarcity, occasioned sometimes perhaps, and in some particular places, by the waste of war, but in by far the greatest number of cases by the fault of the seasons; and that a famine has never arisen from any other cause but the violence of government attempting, by improper means, to remedy the inconveniences of a dearth. (Adam Smith, The Wealth of Nations IV.5.44)

Kill the Evil Bill Slotted on Christian Sabbath Day (Update)

Sometimes the most urgent fights come at the most inconvenient times. So it was last year, the Democrats rallied around a Christmas-Eve vote to push through the worst bill--a heath-scare scheme with (some samples, there are plenty others):
  • a Cornhusker Kickback for citizens of Nebraska, courtesy Democrat Ben Nelson (Obama lied about this being removed in the Baier interview yesterday: it only is out if a second healthcare "reconciliation" bill passes both houses which is unlikely.)
  • a Louisiana Purchase for citizens of Louisiana courtesy Democrat Mary Landrieu (Obama said this was for states "affected by a natural catastrophe" like Louisiana and...Hawaii???)
  • a Gator Aid for citizens of Florida courtesy Democrat Bill Nelson
  • a union bribe to get out of a Cadillac healthcare plan tax increase
  • tax increases on medical devices
  • an individual mandate to throw non-insurance holders in jail a bill which throws tax increases years before benefits to eek out some sort of 10-year disguise of being fiscally responsible
  • a violation from the President that the debates would be held on C-SPAN
  • federal funding of elective abortions, overriding the long-standing Hyde amendment

No, weren't not kidding. This is evil and sets up the framework for a socialist America. Americans know this and stand solidly against this bill. Time after time we have shouted from behind our signs, on our blogs, on our phones, emails, and letters for the Congress to start over. The bill is so bad, the House Rules Chair Louise Slaughter is proposing "deeming" the bill to have passed rather than voting on it--a direct violation of Act 1 Sect 7 of the Constitution.

Even after the unlikely election of Scott Brown to the Senate in deep blue state Massachusetts as the 41st vote against healthcare and thus ensuring a GOP filibuster, after several Democrats have announced their retirement, after not a single poll shows the support of the American people on this issue, Obama announced in his State of the Union his continued push for this bill.

So the bill which the Senate passed by 60 votes (and which they don't have the votes for now with the election of Scott Brown) is now being rammed down the throats of every Democrat in Congress.

Take for example Utah's sole Federal Democratic Congressman, Jim Matheson. We're not huge Matheson fans but we did send Matheson a thank you for voting against the two worst bills of 2009: the 2,000-page House version of health-scare (HR3962) and Cap n Tax (HR2454) which have not been passed by the Senate. Yet the Obama administration has attempted to sway Matheson in favor of the Senate version of health-scare (HR3590)--which has its own interesting, corrupt history as a gutted military home ownership bill--by nominating his brother to the Federal bench.

We shouldn't have to be having this debate right now. Kennedy--who couldn't live long enough to forever filibuster the Massachusetts seat from Bay Staters, should not have had a vote as by Massachusetts law and the seat should have been empty during the vote (unless you mess with the law)--yet he got two votes: Kirk's and Byrd's!

The word is out that a vote could come Sunday--Christian Sabbath Day--and a rare day for a Congressional vote. But that's OK because Obama has attacked Christians before. The time is not convenient, but if there is ever a time to protest, to call, to email, to speak up, and to pray, the time is NOW!

+++ Update: We understand intuitively that the bill is fiscally irresponsible, yet tricks allow Obama to declare it will help reduce the deficit. One of the most easy to understand graphs in understanding this trick comes via The Weekly Standard:

One can easily see how the benefits of the bill don't fully kick into place until about 2016 and the price tag then is around $200B/yr. If these benefits were amortized over 10 years, we'd be looking at an economy-breaking $2T+ bill.

2010: Starting the New Year Right with Senator Scott Brown

Had Enough Corruption Yet, Bay Staters?
How much corruption does it take for the good citizens of Massachusetts to say enough is enough? In 2009 the third consecutive Democratic Speaker of the House, Salvatore DiMasi, resigned and is currently on trial for a myriad of Federal corruption charges. Over in the State Senate it was even better with Senator Galluccio who can't stay sober and does the hit-and-run thing with a toothpaste excuse handy when he fails the breathalyzer, and 2008 former bribes-into-bra Senator Wilkerson who got handed a bunch more corruption charges.

Add to that it took his own death for Senator Ted Kennedy to release his dishonorable, dynastic stranglehold on the US Senate seat he seized for 46 awful years despite the wrongful death of his companion Mary Jo Kopechne.

Senate-appointee corruption
The culminating tragedy for the rest of America was the horrific way the corrupt legislature--the Massachusetts General Court--changed the rules on the appointment of US Senators to vacant seats to promote specific nominations to the seat. In 2004 when it appeared Republican Gov. Romney might replace Senator Kerry, at the specific urging of Senator Kennedy the General Court changed the rules to prohibit a Romney appointee. Yet when Kennedy suddenly died last August, the selfsame General Court rushed through restoration of the Governor-appointee process to give Democrat Governor Patrick the ability to appoint a crony, Paul Kirk. Even a 90-day request for the law to take effect by the GOP was denied. Nacilbupera vehemently denounces these actions by the Democrats as nothing short of evil, corrupt, political gerrymandering. Laws are designed to benefit the whole, not just Paul Kirk.

Yes Massachusetts, it is your Commonwealth, but we are watching. And when it comes to a Federal office, suffering. Were it not for this evil political gerrymandering we would not have had our Christmas ruined by needless debate and voting on unconstitutional healthcare scheme legislation.

Scott Brown vs. Martha Coakley
In December, Massachusetts held their primaries and the two parties came up with two contrasting candidates. On the Democratic side they put forth Martha Coakley who embodies the Democratic spirit of corruption by having kept in jail Gerald Amirault to advance her political prowess (credit to Right Klik who is all over this.) The GOP put forth principled conservative state Senator Scott Brown who the worst he's done is way back when as a college student posed semi-nude in Cosmo. In our research of Senator Brown, a decorated Lt. Colonel in the MA National Guard, we find him and his Brown Brigade campaign worthy of our trust, endorsement, and a financial contribution. That he announced his candidacy for US Senate on 9/12 and spoken at tea party rallies (pictured above) further reveals his principles.
This race is a chance for Bay Staters to decide on Tuesday, January 19th, whether to for a principled conservative in Brown or a known corrupted in Coakley. Nacilbupera has had enough corruption and wants our country back to principles; citizens of the Commonwealth, do you? Minutemen of Massachusetts: arise and throw off the chains of despotic, dynastic tyranny which enslave you into taxation, regulation, and socialism! Vote for Brown!!

Nancy Pelosi Recieves Political Opprobruim Onus

Nacilbupera formally denounces Nancy Pelosi for her scandalous and ignominious responses to the inquires into her knowledge of CIA enhanced interrogations. She has accused the CIA of lying to Congress but has yet to present an iota of evidence to support her claims. That she didn't know about these techniques makes no sense: as House Intelligence Committee Member, she should have known.

Nacilbupera agrees with former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich on the remedy for Ms. Pelosi's scurvy behavior as follows: "...provide the proof that the CIA has been regularly lying, or apologize on the floor of the House to the CIA and the country, or be removed from office." As Ms. Pelosi has failed to do any of three logical choices, Nacilbupera affirms her recipient of Nacilbupera's Political Opprobrium Onus.

This Onus is reserved for politicians who so egregiously violate ethical norms of honesty and trust that Nacilbupera has withdrawn all respect and confidence in that politician's ability to govern for the benefit of the country. Once the Onus is bestowed, that politician is blacklisted as corrupt and cannot be removed until (and if ever) the politician makes adequate public penance to have the Onus removed. Some examples of past Onuses:
  • Bill Clinton lying under oath in court during a sexual harassment investigation including a debate over the definition of the word "is"

  • Ted Kennedy abandoning his companion Ms. Kopechne to die in his submerged car as a result of his reckless driving--and never seeking emergency assistance for her

  • Joe Biden plagiarizing his 1987 speech and lying over his law school record

  • Richard Nixon covering up the Watergate break-in

Rep. Rob Bishop from our home state got a vote in Congress to establish a committee of two Republicans and two Democrats to investigate Pelosi's claims, but the Democrats voted this down today. So much for Pelosi's declared "spirit of partnership, not partisanship" she heralded on assuming the Speaker position.

In issuing this Onus, Nacilbupera reaffirms the need for honesty and accountability in our politicians of all parties. How can we be led to safety and prosperity when our leaders like Ms. Pelosi lie to us? They have violated our trust and should be quickly removed and replaced.
